The 8th Era is an electro/fidget group from New York and Philly. I recently tweeted about artists sending in their tracks for me to spotlight, and they were one of the first to respond.
What originally got my attention was their remix of deadmau5′s “Some Chords”, but this was only the tip of the iceberg. I gave each of their remixes a listen and was equally impressed with all of them.

I personally have been WAITING for a remix of this track. California Gurls by the lovely Katy Perry is undoubtedly one of the top summer/beach party tracks. Once again Team Dark Intensity delivers with their bangin’ remixes. It won’t be long until you hear this remix in a club near YOU.
Check out their Facebook and request more remixes!

Dubstep artist Michael Sifeldeen aka Soundcloud user Ossicles posted a new track, dubbed Are You Ready To Get Did? The track is a refreshing step away from the popular “gorestep” or what some people call “brostep.”
The track can be downloaded in 320kbps from the website, or as a backup, it can be downloaded here.

Soundcloud user Dark Tokyo sent in this remix of Boris Dlugosch’s Bangkok. Bangkok has been remixed many times in many different styles but the Dark Tokyo remix is one of the best I’ve heard. He adds his own unique element and spazzy beats that I can honestly say I have not heard before. The remix breaks out of the typical electro/house/fidget and almost becomes it’s own unique genre.
This remix by Dark Tokyo, aka アーチ Archibong, is his first remix but it’s quite clear that after writing such a successful track …

Travis “Travie” McCoy, most commonly known as the leadsinger of alternative/hip-hop group Gym Class Heroes, wrote a single Billionaire which has gained massive popularity and extensive airtime on the radios. It peaked at 18 on the US Billboard Hot 100 list.
Surprisingly enough, there aren’t many electro/house remixes (There’s one, actually). Maybe more will surface in time. Upon searching YouTube, I found this remix by Dark Intensity. One look at their YouTube channel will show you that these guys are not newcomers to remixing pop songs.

Soundcloud user ‘Sk3tch’ posted a track Tranquil Harp Meets Demented Wobble. Well, I couldn’t desribe the track any better myself! According to Sk3tch, the track took him under 2 hours to write.
The track, much like the title implies, fuses a calm harp with a classic dubstep beat and grimey wobble. I think he is certainly off to a great start and I’d love to see the direction the track goes in.

San Francisco entertainment blog SF Weekly has published an article with their votes as to who the best dubstep DJs are. Their nominees are DJG, Babylon System, Spit Brothers, and Kozee.
I’m not sure if this makes me a dubstep noob or not, but honestly I’ve never heard of any of these artists. Seriously though, these are the best dubstep artists? What about Benga, Skream, Caspa, Excision, Datsik? Maybe there is something I don’t understand…
