Kavsrave is the name of Jamie Kavanagh, a dubstep producer from South London that brings house-shaking basslines with synth-smothered RnB vocals and wonky video game beats. Having grown up with Joy Orbison, the producer of 2009′s revered anthem “Hyph Mngo”, it’s no surprise that Kavanagh was picked up by Numbers. The A side “PClart” has a gigantic bassline drop a minute in, complimented by sweet RnB vocals and a wonky atmosphere. The AA side “Tightly Closed” has 2562-like percussion–strong and sparse—that is layered between a heavenly female “oooooh”ing. Dripping reverb is present on both sides of this wonderful 12”, constantly tugging at the listener with the power of the bass. Kavsrave is new to the dubstep scene as a producer, but having grown up with Joy Orbison and A1 Bassline, it’s not surprising that he’s produced such huge tunes already.
