According to the artist, this was actually a prototype for a dress – I’d like to see that. Personally, I feel that this has potential for much cooler installations and usages. I think it would make a really interesting conversation piece in a bar, nightclub (think blacklights) or even a hotel lobby. Regardless of it’s usage, I am impressed with the sheer ingenuity behind this piece. Glow In The Dark Outdoor Chairs

Gruppo Avanzini designed these wooden stools intended for outdoor/patio use. Alternatively, they can also be used for ottomans or even coffee tables.

Resembling something out of Alice in Wonderland, these chairs could be the main focal point of your outdoor space or could even be used as accent lighting in a bar or nightclub. Either way, they are sure to draw attention and spark up a conversation.

Like popping bubble wrap…

…But a lot cooler. This neat little Flash file works the same as the infamous bubble wrap but it’s algorithm makes it a lot more fun to play with. Our readers with OCD should have some fun with this!

I did notice however that once you get all four quadrants “popped” into much smaller bubbles that the program starts to lag. This can actually provide some interesting results, allowing you to essentially “draw” in the bubble.

According to the artist, there is actually a hidden image in the bubbles. I guess you need to to get the bubbles down to a small enough size to essentially resemble pixels. I haven’t had enough patience to get that far.

A while back I stumbled across some software called Electric Sheep. At first, I wasn’t sure if it was a video game or what. Appearing to be harmless, I downloaded and installed it. At first, it simply told me to “wait.” OK, I thought. So I came back a while later and it had enabled a screensaver mode and was producing some pretty cool fractal art. At this point I decided to learn more about the software.

Essentially, Electric Sheep is a screensaver program that is supposed to visualize your computer’s dreams (if computers did indeed dream). The application communicates with the ES server and in turn communicates with all of the other computers that are currently ‘dreaming.’ If you like one of the sheep, you can upvote it. If you do not like it, you can delete it from your computer, all with a single keystroke. Included below are some examples of the artwork produced by Electric Sheep.

I have Electric Sheep running on my desktop PC 24/7 and I have to say, the fractal artwork is quite a conversation piece. I find myself sitting here for rather long moments, just starting directly in to the screen. I don’t have any experience myself, but I often feel as though the visualizations are similar to a DMT experience. As you stare into the screen you feel as though you have been transported into some sort of complex parallel universe…
