All right, so I’ll give you readers a quick warning: this isn’t going to be a very good article. Some might like to compare said quality with the quality of the EP I am reviewing – some might not. Either way, this article will be a review of Skrillex’s new release, “Bangarang”.
I’ve listened to this EP a good amount of times, in different scenarios. I tried listening to it whilst browsing the web, checking my email, visiting Reddit. I also tried listening to it whilst playing Battlefield 3, pumped up …

Oh. My. God. There’s something about the hypnotic bass and organ synths in this that not only make this so satsifying and mesmerizing but also a little eerie. Perfect for this season. Before listening to it I was like “Hmm… Not sure if want” and after listening to it I found myself wanting more!

There’s just something that feels really good about this track, and it’s alleviating some of the pain I’m feeling from the loss of former Apple CEO Steve Jobs. The ’96 Bulls edit of Cognitive Dissonance from Wolfgang Gartner is so smooth and swanky and just feels so comfortable.

So all of a sudden a bunch of big name artists are releasing full-length albums. WTF? You’ve got David Guetta, Porter Robinson, Excision, Sander van Doorn, and now Wolfgang Gartner and who knows who else! Anyway I’m not hating, I actually think these albums are really fun to listen to. A much better musical experience than just a single or EP (although the latter are released more frequently!).

Everyone knows about the upcoming Wolfgang Gartner album due out September 20th, but there’s one track that won’t be making it onto the album. For some strange reason, though, Hot Topic was given permission to distribute the track, dubbed Cognitive Dissonance. Fortunately for you guys, I got my hands on the copy and am saving you the annoying hassle of having to to get the track through Hot Topic. Enjoy!

It’s a little hard to believe but Wolfgang Gartner JUST got an account on Soundcloud.com, so hopefully over the next couple weeks he’ll be uploading some quality electro house tunes! I think Wolfgang was definitely one of the first producers to help define electro house as we know and love it today – the modern fusion of electro and house. His new track Ménage à Trois track has a pretty new sound to it and I definitely think he’s stepped up his game!

Anyone who knows me or this site knows that I LOVE remixes. I think it has something to do with the fact that you get to listen to a track that you enjoy but also have the pleasure of hearing the changes the remixer has made to it. It’s familiar but also suspenseful at the same time.

Wolfgang Gartner has released his latest track on Ultra Records, Illmerica. I gave the track a quick listen on Beatport and was pretty surprised with what I heard. Wolfgang definitely seems to have strayed away from the spazzy electro house and turned more towards a funk / electronica type sound.
It will be interesting to see if he continues to produce more tracks like this or if it’s just an experiment.
